Thermographic measurements

Thermographic measurements

the use of an infrared imaging system in order to obtain data concerning heat distribution

Qualitative thermographic measurements

are aimed at the identification of such temperature differences that indicate possible failure locations and not the measurement of exact absolute temperature values.

Quantitative thermographic measurements

are aimed at the measurement of exact actual temperature values.

Thermal anomaly

abnormally warm or cold connection, wire or component.

THERMOGRAPHIC MEASUREMENT OBJECTIVES

The thermographic measurements are intended for identifying and documenting the existing temperature anomalies. The application of the infrared thermography for power equipment involves the analysis of heating up of components under a current load. Anomalies with higher temperature result from an increase in the resistance due to incorrect connection, short-circuit, overload, uneven load or damage of the unit. Overheat leads to failures of both individual units and whole systems. On the basis of diagnostic measurements using infrared analysis and by comparing thermograms prepared for the same units during their operation it is possible to determine damage without interrupting the production process and depending on the size of damage to take the most favorable preventive and repair measures.
